Ouachita introduces Master of Science degree in exercise science

Ouachita will expand its kinesiology program to include a Master of Science degree in exercise science, expected to launch in Fall 2023. Housed in the Huckabee School of Education, the master’s degree pathway will be built around the concept of recognizing exercise as medicine—an emphasis that has been foundational in the way Ouachita’s Department of Kinesiology approaches instruction.

Ouachita faculty team selected for national disability inclusion grant

A team of Ouachita Baptist University faculty members has been selected as a recipient of the Accelerating Disability Inclusion Community-Based Micro-Grant by the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability’s (NCHPAD) Inclusion: Community Micro-Grant Program.

Dr. Terry DeWitt (center) accepts Ouachita’s first Gold Status credential for its Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program during the American College of Sports Medicine’s (ACSM) annual meeting in Orlando this summer. Bob Sallis, past-president of ACSM and EIM founder, and Renee Jeffries Heil, current EIM Committee chair, presented the award.

Ouachita Baptist University recently became the first university in Arkansas to earn a Gold Status credential from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) for its participation and excellence in the organization’s Exercise is Medicine® (EIM) program.
